And so this is Christmas

Christmas in this household is a fairly standard affair. Dad goes to the Cemetery at 7AM to dress his fathers tomb. I go with him if I am up early enough. He is home by 8.We pick up middle sister at 8:15AM on the way to mass. After Mass, we visit my Nonna for an hour then go home, where dad busily prepares lunch (normally a seafood affair these day, but was formerly homemade Lasagne when I was growing up), Dad gets drunk, everyone gets bored and the afternoon is filler.

This Christmas was no different. The best part of mass is the Homily, and this year the priest used it to target people like myself who only attend at Christmas and Easter, emphasising that God fills a hole in our lives and in a bizarre way compared it to Danoz Direct whereby people buy a whole lot of useless stuff they don't need to fill a need.

Lunch was fantastic. My uncle came over, however left relatively early. We had heaps of oysters and a mix of crab meat and prawn salad. Afterwards there were heaps of others on offers - Salmon salad, cheese platter, oven baked wedges, fish cocktails, olives and tomato and much much more. I was very full by the end of it.

I played a game of Jones in the Fast Lane with my middle sister - its an old 80's game but we still get enjoyment out of it. we also swapped presents. I give her an obseenely large box of chocolates (a tradition) and smiley face pillow covers (she likes yellow smiley faces and these were trendy enough to be right up her alley). She gave me some clothers, some not really my style but nice enough for me to give it a go.

When I dropped my sister home, I discovered that I had a flat tyre. This is a real pain as I expect most tyre places to be closed on festive week, but I'll have to find a way around it. Regardless, Merry Christmas to all!
