Here I type in the final hour of 2012. I'm not usually one for party and celebration but had planned to be at the casino right now. Dad has always viewed New Years Eve as a family day. As teenagers, it was often difficult to tell him otherwise and today was no different.
Whilst my sisters had plans of their own, so did my father. I worked a very slow day at the office and came home to a prepared BBQ for this evening. My uncle and grandmother were coming over and I was tasked with picking them up.
We haven't had a BBQ in years, nonetheless it was how I remembered them when I was younger - Lots of meat (even though I no longer eat meat, potatoes in their jackets, beetroot, three bean salad, corn and salads. Afterwards we played 3 way scopa with my dad and uncle - all losing a little bit of money to be reinvested in shared lotto. Whilst my uncle was in the mood for a big one, My nan couldn't last the distance and I dropped them home an hour before countdown. I have to say that the evening went better than was expected.
Its probably a good time now to reflect on the year that was. I had 2 overseas trips, one to a destination I had wanted to go to for years (Macau). I did lose weight, though have lost focus of late. My relationship status is, well, status quo and my cousin and her father still are not talking and I started this blog..
Before I watch the countdown and fireworks on TV and retire for the night, I wish everybody a Happy New Year for 2013. May you all achieve your goals and be prosperous.
